Alexander Long Stumbled upon Patterns while listening to an apple "radio" station for the Band Camino, and immediately fell in love. And only an hour after first hearing the album I am absolutely certain I will never be able to get Off the Team out of my head. Looking forward to any future albums or projects. Keep kicking ass. Favorite track: Off the Team.

Off the Team 04:00
You only talk to me when you’re down When your man is not around Go on and tell me again how I’m wrong you’re not stringing me along We’re “hanging out” We slur pet names Though I remain in a stimu-less domain I was convinced I wasn’t chained by your charm You said it first that "there’s a flame" But he’s the one in the pictures you frame You know I always take the bait Count the scars Oh so it’s me who’s feeling stale Big surprise on a coin I play tails If three’s a crowd what is four? Now I’m counting more You only talk to me when you’re down When your man is not around Go on and tell me again how I’m wrong you’re not stringing me along I’ve only touched this love on page But it’s a trick I'm a conditional phase I’ve laid it out and nothing’s changed I’m at odds My days are shadowed by the shame I’ve doubled down on this con-traction-less chase No fingers out No ones to blame So you’ve taught Oh so it’s me who feeling stale Big surprise I’m the last you unveil If three's a crowd what is four? Now I’m counting more. You only talk to me when you’re down When your man is not around Go on and tell me again how I’m wrong you’re not stringing me along You only talk to me when you’re down When you crave your second round Go on and tell me again how I’m wrong you’re not stringing me along Go on and tell me again Go on and tell me again No drop of doubt I’m walking clean I’m calling quits I’ve paid the fee. No bother reaching out to me I’m signing out I’m off the team (X2) You only talk to me when you’re down When your man is not around Go on and tell me again how I’m wrong you’re not stringing me along You only talk to me when you’re down When you crave your second round Go on and tell me again how I’m wrong you’re not stringing me along Can you tell me again? Can you tell me again? That’s it I’m done I’m off Off the team

Dirty Dan 04:28
Wears the same green coat from 99’ With a low flat rate he’s on your side Binders filled with pictures and tapes Evidence that proves who’s “insane" Gets the job well done Sports no degree And he stands for one Reps no institution With his wooden gun he’ll bring you restitution Till his job is won and wrapped to a conclusion He’s watching you and all your naughty moves He says: You breathing incarnate damnations I’ve seen your wretched ways Your Instant gratifications have brought the end of days He stalks four blocks back with vigilance Smokes his home grown clove cigarettes A daily crossword sharpens his mind Lives his life by body time instincts never leave him blind Sewed his tear ducts shut back In 95’ And he stands for one Reps no institution With his wooden gun he’ll bring you restitution Till his job is won and wrapped to a conclusion He’s watching you and all your naughty moves He says: You breathing incarnate damnations I’ve seen your wretched ways Your Instant gratifications have brought the end of days (x2)

Tired Of Love Taking it in It was mutual Well ain’t that convenient While you lie in your bed an empty room attracts your inner-demons What did you share And what was only crafted in your head Nothing is fair Vivid sound mosaics of what you said Are you tired of love? Or Are you tired you’re not what you dreamed of? Modern vows oh what are they worth anymore? Are you tired of love? He’s taking the blame She don’t find it fair insists she failed to communicate But he pushed her away So simple a play to press the pain down to a cliche. What did you share? What was only crafted in your mind? Nothing is fair Plastic all the laughter and the good times Are you tired of love? Or Are you tired you’re not what you dreamed of? Modern vows oh what are they worth anymore? Are you tired of love? (x2) Months mornings are stunned yet extended while touring how it all ended Or am I off have you already mended? Who came on top or at least who’s pretending? New dates, old tastes, a maze of ways to prove who’s sane to pass the days What ever works go on follow your fire Just know they’re not what you desire Are you tired of love? Or Are you tired you’re not what you dreamed of? Modern vows oh what are they worth anymore? Are you tired of love? (x2)

Patterns 04:35
Humid night Lips are feeling dry How unique only our fourth rewrite I’m not heading home Hate to be alone When I’m with you I’m sensational Former words we won't bring to light Cause private thoughts shared aren’t always kind I’m not heading home Hate to be alone When I’m with you I’m sensational Where’s the magic movies make their millions on? Cue a catchy chorus and the doubts withdraw I’m not heading home Hate to be alone When I’m with you I’m sensational A friendly voice Sentimental skin Carves our choice Has us crave commitment I’m not heading home Hate to be alone When I’m with you I’m sensational Where’s the magic movies make their millions on? Cue a catchy chorus and the doubts are gone I’m not heading home Hate to be alone When I’m with you I’m sensational Patterns; strike a strange reaction Patterns; replicates the passion I’m feeling tonight Patterns; strike a strange reaction Patterns; replicates attraction it almost feels right Another kiss another round we’re nothing close to once we found Another dance another round fear we’re the best we’ll find in town Our past is the poison The remedy’s rare Our fable start over is losing it’s flare Where’s the magic movies make their millions on? Cue a catchy chorus and the doubts are gone I’m not heading home Hate to be alone When I’m with you I’m sensational Or are we comfortable?

Carry Me 05:17
Often staring out a window Feeling static I’m an addict for the past Wondering where all the days go Time is agile while it’s fragile as a glass I look for you in a crowded room Though your two thousand miles away We grew up fast I hear your laugh But like a scar it fades Can you carry me? Can you carry me- to fragmented dreams for a dance? When the thrill is gone Is there moving on? Can the undertow grant us a second chance?   A memory can stunt the daytime You’re on your feet then on your knees in a sweat The heads a hazard filled with landmines There’s no logic for nostalgic regret I look for you in a crowded room Though you’re two thousand miles Nothing lasts A written fact We can't retract our fate Can you carry me? Can you carry me- to fragmented dreams for a dance? When the thrill is gone- Are you moving on? Are lives all determined by past romance? We fantasized our future days convinced ourselves we'd fight through come what may Foolishly promised our hearts We'd split apart we'd meet again believed we make beginnings from our end Have you thought of us lately- What was ours? Can you carry me? Can you carry me- to fragmented dreams for a dance? When the thrill is gone is there moving on? Can the undertow grant us a second chance?   Can you carry me? Can you carry me- to fragmented dreams for a dance? Now the thrills are gone look who’s moving on We'll cease to share more than this glance

about

Jack of Hearts' Patterns is a 5-song EP with styles ranging from early 2000s pop punk to soulful mic-breaking power ballads. In Patterns, lead singer and lyricist Jackson Perrin writes high-concept lyrics that dismantle and then reassemble the nostalgia of love and heartbreak. Infidelity, heartbreak, loss—Perrin skewers each with character-driven storytelling rivaled only by his wildly acrobatic vocals, which evoke the emotion of the lyrics by doing somersault after somersault across a burning tightrope. If Brendon Urie and Brandon Boyd’s voices had a baby, you’d have the high-octane vocals present in every single song in Patterns.

Jack of Hearts, comprised of NYC-based musicians Jackson Perrin, Max Schroeder, Lex Nordlinger, and Jen Giammanco, answers the question: is there pop rock out there for people who don’t want to fucking listen to pop rock? The answer is yes.
